2008 Sea to Sky Literary Contest

Open to writers in British Columbia

Open and Under 18 Categories

The Squamish Chief and the Squamish Writers Group invites entries to the 2008 Sea to Sky Literary Contest in any of five categories. Entries should involve the Sea to Sky region in some way - recreation, history, natural beauty, etc. The Squamish Writers Group will select finalists and the judge(s) will choose the top three winners in each category.

Categories
Long Fiction 5000 words
Short Fiction 1500 words
Outdoor Rec Creative Non-fiction 1500
Poetry 2-4 poems
Youth Category, Poetry or Prose Under 18

Cash Prizes for first in each category

In addition

• A selection of top entries will be featured in a spring literary journal published as a supplement to the Squamish Chief.

• All finalists will be invited to participate in an evening event at the time of the launching of the journal and may be asked to read their entry.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines

• All material must be previously unpublished.

• Prose manuscripts must be typed on one side only of 8.5 X 11 letter sized paper with min. 1-inch margins and double spaced.

• Poetry manuscripts must be typed on one side only of 8.5 X 11 letter sized paper with min. 1-inch margins but need not be double spaced. Please send 2-4 poems only.

• If entering by email, attach manuscript as a .doc or .pdf file.

• Manuscript must not have the authors name on any page except the cover sheet.

• Paperclip a cover sheet to the manuscript that includes only the entry's title, a word count, and author details including name, address, phone number and email. Also indicate which category the manuscript is being entered into.

• Contest is open to all residents of British Columbia.

• Entries will not be returned. Those that do not meet these submission guidelines are automatically disqualified.

• There is no entry fee.

• One entry per category per person

• POSTMARK DEADLINE June 1, 2008
